As John’s colleague at Phoenix College, I have had opportunity to work with him on several projects over the past 5 years. Most notable of these projects was the filming of a 4-day Summer Research Training Institute (SRTI) at ASU-West that focused on providing residential and adjunct faculty with the opportunity to acquire and enhance their technical laboratory skills in STEM-related areas. Facilitated by ASU-West researchers and faculty members, the SRTI trained MCCCD faculty how to perform current STEM research techniques and incorporate these techniques into their own STEM courses. A key element of this program was the recording of instructional videos to be shared with residential and adjunct faculty across the district. Not only did John help us identify what type of camera and microphone would best meet our filming needs, he also took the time to show both faculty and student assistants how to set up and operate the equipment.
